I was concerned when I broke my own rule and ordered based on price and not the reviews. So far I am pleasantly surprised. I'm using it to pipe A/V to a detached garage that is about 35 feet from my houseand (total distance is probably 50 feet) the quality is decent. Its not HD perfect but certinly watchable. The sound is good and the remote relay works fine. That is going through 3 walls (2 are thicker exterior walls) with a wireless router and cordless phone working in very close proximity. I think if I play with the location of the devices that it will be even better. Now if they last I will be happy.

Decent, but Short Range

I received this item today and I am installing it in an open balcony of a church to transmit to a television under the balcony. The product was easy enough to install, but the quality is only decent. When tuned in the colors are good and the sound is excellent (I did not try the IR repeater function). The issue I have is that the distance between the transmitter and the receiver is no more than 100 feet, and the balcony is open so only about 1 wall's worth of obstacles and it's hard to keep in tune without static. I tried every combination of "channel" I could with little effect on clarity. The instruction manual says 2.4GHz/5.8GHz everywhere, and there's no indication on my unit or in the manual which my device is, though the ad promised 5.8GHz, I somehow doubt that it is. I would love to hear from anyone with more information or tips for this unit.Thanks

I bought this to send audio/video from security camera in garage to system in the loft and find it to be a fine device. I had been using 2.4 GHz unit which caused difficulties with wireless networking but 5.8 GHz is trouble free. I plan to buy several more.

Over-rated. Underpowered. Incomprehensible. A real piece of crap.

I got this amp because I needed something in roughly the 40W/ch range with a remote control for adjusting the volume. Printed right on the top of the unit it says "4x45W RMS." I suspect that whoever made this amp, or decided what to print on the case, doesn't know the meaning of the term "RMS" because there is NO WAY this amp puts out anywhere near 45W/ch RMS. I have a 20W/ch RMS amp here (considerably more expensive, whose specs I believe) which delivers considerably more volume at 50% gain (with the same input signal and speakers) than this amp delivers at 100% gain. The power rating shenanigans continue at the power supply. The unit says "Input power: 14.4V 5A" (72W) "Output power: 45W x 4" (180W). If that weren't absurd enough, the power supply that comes with it says it's output is 12V @ 3A (36W). This thing is really just a mess. In terms of sound, I would have been better off with an average pair of computer speakers.The remote control is a bit less than completely useful as well. You see, there is a physical volume knob on the front of the unit, but it's not motorized, and the remote volume control backs off the setting of the physical knob. What you have to do is turn the knob all the way up and then use the remote to back the volume down from there. Because the volume knob on the unit is also the power switch, you can't turn the unit on and off from the remote either.The "manual" for this unit is a sheet of paper with nothing but Chinese on it, and no useful hookup/wiring diagram, but that shouldn't matter, right? It's an amp. It should be self-explanatory! Not so much. The markings on the back of the amp make no sense. It doesn't seem I can insert a picture in this review, but let me try to explain: The implication of the product description and less-than-fully-detailed back panel photo on Amazon is that this has four discrete channels - you can see four RCA jacks and four pairs of speaker terminals. The reality of it is somewhat less clear. There are four RCA plugs, but two are marked "input" and two are marked "output." Going against 50+ years of convention, there are "L"s next to red-cored RCA jacks and "R"s next to white-cored RCA jacks. The speaker terminals are labeled below with SL, SR, L, R, but those labels align with columns of terminals (i.e. red + red, black + black). Then on top of the speaker terminals they're (conflictingly) labeled +, -, -, + in the way that corresponds to red and black. There are only so many permutations of wiring to try, so I eventually figured out something that works, but the shoddiness here rises to an impressive level.As for this amp having four discrete channels, don't hold your breath. There is considerable crosstalk between the "channels" of this amp. If I have the left input and the right speaker (as best I was able to figure them out) hooked up, I get sound out of the right speaker (albeit much less than what I get out of the left speaker if I hook it up.)All around this thing is a piece of crap. For ~$25 I probably shouldn't have expected much. I guess I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Well, I wasn't. It would cost me more than it's worth to send it back, so whatever, I'll probably just throw it out and call it a lesson learned, but for anyone who hasn't bought this yet, don't bother. I give it two stars instead of one because it does actually amplify sound, as opposed to being completely DOA, but even two stars is generous here.

Great little amplifier

Purchased this little guy to sit in the garage and power my outdoor speakers and it works perfect. Seems pretty rugged so far, even has notches in the frame so I could mount it to the shelf very simply. It is not surround sound it is two 2 channel stero outputs which is fine for my outdoor use. All of the inputs work fine except that the USB/SD inputs play files in alphabetical order only which could be annoying. It has plenty of power, sounds good. It fit the bill perfectly for what I needed, very happy with my purchase.

Great sound. FM Radio very good if you understand that it is designed for a car antenna. A single long wire 20 30 ft. works great.Pre-set stations are set by scanning. You can access them by sequence ( << >> ) or by typing in the num (p3 = 3).Would have been nice if a manual was available; maybe this will help. It took me awhile to understand pre-sets.Plays mp3 but not wav formats.Rod

Faithful replication of the input video

This is a "unity gain" distribution amplifier, and is what you need if you want to send the same audio and composite video signals to more than one piece of equipment.I tested the unit for faithful replication of the input video by using as a source a satellite receiver that has two outputs, and using a video switch to compare the video through the distibution amplifier vs. bypassing it, and saw no significant difference.I also tried it with an RF modulator that had problems when used with another brand of distribution amplifier, and I saw no problems when using it with the CE Labs unit. Therefore, I would say that the CE Labs unit "plays well with others."I haven't specifically tested audio quality with and without this unit, but I have noticed no problems.

Fantastic

Not a lot to be said, it works perfectly, it runs cool, (I don't think I've ever felt any heat at all coming from the unit actually) and it provides an affordable way to get 1:1 reproduction. This is basically the same quality as a high cost model for display rooms, but with less inputs and outputs, meant for consumer use. It was meant to be on and working for long periods of time I gather, because there's no power switch. The way you turn it off, is to unplug the power cord from the unit, or the wall. Using it is very simple, you plug the source into the input row, and plug a male/male composite cable into each/any of the outputs, and then into the respective devices. Of course, make sure you get a few high quality shielded M/M composite cables with this unit, or it'll be useless until you do.I would highly recommend this unit for doing Let's Plays, so you can be playing the game like you normally would on the TV while recording everything you're doing on a video capture card. To be paired with this, I recommend the StarTech SVID2USB2 USB 2.0 capture card. It's a fantastic addition to this product when recording an LP, and provides one of the best setups you can put together, video-wise, for under $100.I'll be uploading a sample video of what the card and this product produce to Youtube very soon. I bought this amplifier so I could record video from my Xbox onto my laptop, while actually playing the game on my standard TV. And it does exactly what you would expect it to. The signal quality really is 1:1, as far as I can tell anyway. If there is any degradation in the video, it's minor. The audio is excellent too. I've only tested it using two of the outputs simultaneously, but I've seen nothing to make me believe the quality of using all four would be any different. If your looking for a good composite video amplifier, then look no further.

Fantastic receiver with great connectivity!

I replaced a very good home theater preamp/processor with this unit. I am using my external power amp to power the front channels and the front-wide surrounds of my now 11.2 channel home theater. The Audessey mic set up the channels easily and perfectly, including the 2 different subwoofers. Viewing movies via cable or Blu-ray is now an amazing experience using Audessey DSX or DTS Neo:X. Using Oremote app ($5) on my iPhone and iPad via wifi allows detailed adjustment and selections, as well as experimenting with the various modes available. Network capability for streaming music also great, although shortcoming of the media are more apparent in a better environment like this. Only downside is that 11.1 requires an external amp for 2 channels and the Onkyo does not have a 12v trigger to turn it on for main zone (it does for zone 2 and 3, but that is of no use!). I need to manually with on the power amp, then everything is exceptional. Incredible features and performance equal to much higher end stuff. The addition of front width and front height speakers, as well as rear surrounds plus side surrounds has made a HUGE difference for my theater.
