Great all around player(review with light "test" info, and 6 month update)

[added a "6 moths later update at the end]This isn't a super in depth review, but will give you more info that most will in a fairly brief summary: First off, I am a Sony TV guy who bought TWO Panasonic Blu-Ray players last year due to their seeming superiority(reviews, pro and online stores).First step for any modern electronic device, update your firmware. My initial update took over 5 minutes. I also recommend registering at internet.sony.tv as in the past some Sony products won't connect to certain services until you do. I connected to AmazonVideo on Demand and Netflix, BEFORE I registered it, so they may have responded to complaints and dropped the requirement, but incase there is a service that require it get it out of the way, it only takes a minute if you have a Sony account alreadyNetflix app(they upgraded! Sony fans rejoice!): One glaring fault with (past/pre-2012?) Sony visual products is their Netflix app, as for years Sony decided to have a proprietary interface, and if you have researched it, a LOT of people had Netflix streaming issues. I guess Sony finally took note, as the new interface is like a across between the Wii interface and the Panasonic interface, as in it looks like you avgerage Netflix app now. I watched the Norwegian film TrollHunters, and it took about 15-20 seconds to load the movie, 10 seconds for the Netflix stream to stabilize to the bandwidth( this is mostly on Netflix's end I believe), with the unit 10 feet from my router. For the entire movie, it never reloaded or refreshed, or froze, and was in 1080 with 5.1 sound. I also paused the movie and rewound several times with no reload or delay. Truly the smoothest Netflix experience I have had yet on any of my devices. If your getting the S590 I assume this will be important to you. And yes, it has a dedicated Netflix button, and the app loads faster than my Wii or Panasonic Blu Ray players, and my Sony TV's, so I assume they have "fixed" it, but I haven't done a lot of viewing yet.Blu Ray performance: Another reviewer said it won't play Disney movies, but I didn't have a problem, more later. First I put in the Star Trek (2009) Blu Ray, which has great visual beginning. I didn't have any performance issues that I could tell, and the menus are VERY fast and responsive, almost to a fault as there was a bit of shutter on the pop up menu, but unless you watch the movie with the pop up constantly going up and down I don't see this as a big issue. It was roughly 30 seconds from hitting the eject button to close the tray to the Paramount intro screen going, not bad.I then tried a 3D Disney Blu Ray (Tangeled, a true Disney made film), as one reviewer had said Disney BR does not work. Seeing as how this player is VERY new( a few weeks to a month on market), My guess is there was a firmware issue, disc issue, or user issue. That said, Tangeled played flawlessly in 3D as I skipped around chapters trying to cause an issue, but it all worked great.Also, this player, in my opinion, works very fast when skipping chapters or loading a scene from menu, where some playera seem to pause or lag. It was also quick to fast foward and "rewind", with little to no pause when hitting the button. A noticeable leap over my 2011 model panasonic bdt-220.Network set-up:As usual for modern Sony products, if you have a WPS router, took roughly 2 minutes, from the time I started the set up on the TV, walked to my router in the next room and hit the WPS button, and then walked backed to tell the TV to begin connecting.The Media Remote app for Android worked very well, but you must first go to the settings menu on the TV and scroll down to the Media remote section, and "register"(aka activate, a button push) the feature(an unnecessary step IMO but I guess they are worried about people with an unprotected router have their TV taken over by pranksters?).Now some people are complaining about build quality. It's true it doesn't feel as sturdy at the Panasonic Players I bought last year, but is by no means flimsy. Unless you are planning on dropping it regularly, or letting your dog chew on it, I don't see a problem with this. It does look nice, with a brushed metal "look" on the case. As with seemlingly EVERY Blu Ray player, it does not come with an HDMI(which baffles me, it isnt expensive to make a high quality HDMI cable, don't get fooled by the HDMI cable prices).6-Month Update I have now owned this product for 6 months. If I were to again compare it to the Panasonic's , although they are a generation older, the Sony absolutely blows them away. It loads movies faster, it streams Hulu and Netflix faster, it updates firmware MUCH faster, and I have not had any streaming or Blu Ray video problems at all.I have encountered one issue, but won't change my rating. On Fast Boot mode, while the boot is nearly instant, I did encounter an odd issue where it boots itself. If you have your TV HDMI control function, it will turn on the TV also. It's a bit unnerving when you are asleep and you are awoken by your TV turning on and seeing a Main menu. This COULD be an HDMI control issue with my TV though. There are two ways to solve it: Turn off fast boot(it's still much faster than most Blu Ray players), or turn off HDMI control so it can't turn on your TV itself. Also, while some Sony TV's do not, this player will also auto zoom/strech the screen when you are watching a 4:3 format video on netflix, to fit your widescreen, so there aren't any bars on the side. I know many people want to use every inch of their TV screen.Also, Sony has been fairly quick lately to keep the Internet Video Apps up to date/ recent versions, So no TiVo-style glacier slow Internet Application User Interface updates to worry about.

This is a great Streamer / Bluray and DVD player

This is a awesome Streamer/Bluray/DVD player. I haven't experienced any issues whatsoever playing back Bluray disks. Boot times are very good with the disks I tested. Everything played back perfectly with stunning picture quality. However, I really purchased this player for its streaming abilities. Sony players were dinged in the past for a poor Netflix experience. Sony have fixed this with a updated Netflix interface that supports 1080p and Dolby Digital+ streams. Similarly Amazon VOD supports Dolby Digital bitstream audio, and VUDU and HULU+ are unchanged from the 2011 players, but work fine. Its also nice to have "crackle" on there so you can watch the odd Seinfeld episode when you fancy.I also tested the player with a DNLA server. Sony seem to recommend Serviio (free) so I think they must test the DLNA features of the player with this software. I tested photos, music and video and everything played back perfectly.Anyway, a great streamer/disk player. Highly recommended !!** update **Had a need to play a Disney BD disk on this player the other day. A comment here suggests that Disney BDs won't play. Complete nonsense. They playback perfectly.** Update (8/27/12) **Sony added support for watch lists with the amazon Vod app.Cinema NOW is now supported.

S590 A Great Player At A Great Price

I've been looking for a Blu-ray player for awhile now and my purchase was delayed a bit due to so many conflicting feedback entries over products. I finally decided to go with a brand I trust, Sony, that had the features I was looking for and just see what happens. The S590 is 3d capable, but I have no interest in 3d and that is why I do not address it in my review.Out of the box the player is a bit plasticy. (Is that a word?) Yes it feels a little cheap, but on the upside it is light and matches my other equipment. I don't need a Blu-ray player that is built like a tank. After all, it is just going to sit there on my media shelf playing movies. I don't get why people complain about it. Do they take their players mountain biking with them? So yes, the case is plastic, but I could not care less. One important note, an HDMI cable is not included with the unit, so be sure to have one if you want an HDMI connection.I plugged in the player via HDMI and turned it on. First thing I established a wireless connection so I could update firmware. My router, in the next room, was seen immediately, along with routers from neighbors. I entered my password and was connected. Next, I updated the firmware. That took less than five minutes to do. Amazon Prime connectivity was next, then Netflix. No issues at all. I then decided to stream an Amazon Prime movie, Mission Impossible 3, as it is hi-def and I wanted to see what performance was like. The movie started up within 30 seconds, I saw I was getting between 8.4 and 10.2 megabits per second. The picture was clear and smooth. Over the weekend we streamed from Amazon Prime and Netflix and were very happy with the speed of connection and quality of video and sound.I also tried playing Blu-Ray and DVD movies, both with no issues. I did not time how long it took to get a movie playing, but I can (very unscientifically) say that it was faster than what I have seen with several units. Everything played as expected.Boot up time is acceptably fast. I chose the slower boot process as I don't want the player in standby mode all the time. When I turn the player on, I am able to choose what I want to do in about 15 - 20 seconds. More than acceptable.Overall, I am extremely happy with the player. It is responsive, boots quickly and has handled my needs, (Blu-Ray disks, DVDs, Amazon Prime and Netflix.) I have not tried other features, so I can't speak to them. Given my experience, I would expect they would work as advertised, but you never know until you try them.If I have friends looking for a Blu-Ray player, I won't hesitate to recommend the S590!

This phone is great! So many people bash it because "oh it has a smaller processor than the big s3"' and "oh it only had a 5mp camera" and they don't look at the actual phone itself.This phone is great and you basically get everything you get from the galaxy s3 except in a mini package. The only difference is a few of the the specs like the camera and the processor. I tested my Galaxy s3 Mini (which only has a dual core processor) against my friends Galaxy s3 4g (which has a quad core processor) and it pretty much kept pace with it. Maybe every now and then it would load a mili-second slower..yea a MILI-second slower. Nowhere near slow enough for anyone to complain about it as much as people try to. It's faster than the iphone 4s which only supports 3G and not 4G.If you want the NFC version of this phone, you HAVE to get the one being sold in the UK! That is currently the only country that has it for sale at the moment.This phone DOES support 3G/HSDPA...I repeat it DOES support 3G. Everyone claims you can only get EDGE/2g internet, which is so false. I get HSDPA which is faster 3G network than actual 3G.You get all the "smart motion" settings as the galaxy s3, such as smart stay, direct call, tilt to zoom, pan and move, double tap to top, turn over to mute/stop playing music, etc.you get all the live wallpapers, backgrounds, tones, sounds, text tones, ringers, water sounds, and everything else as the galaxy s3.THIS PHONE HAS A REGULAR SIZE SIM CARDTHIS PHONE HAS A REGULAR SIZE SIM CARDpeople who complain about the battery either 1) have wifi on all the time: which drains the battery because apps are constantly updating "like facebook, email, etc." and the wifi signal is always looking to see if there is a network in range to connect to, or 2) always have H/3G on: which uses more battery than wifi as well as keeps you connected so you will get updates for "facebook, email, etc". When your phone is sleeping, disable mobile data and wifi data and your phone will be a champ! Its not that hard to click one button to turn wifi/mobile data back on and get your new updates. You wake your phone up, click connect wifi/3g data, and then bam! you'll get any facebook notifications, all your emails update, etc.I charged the phone to 100% to do a test of standby time and this is what I have. After I unplugged the phone I put it in sleep with wifi off and let it sit. every now and then I got a text and would go on it to check battery %. This phone went from 99% to 94% in 13 hours!!!! yea THIRTEEN! it only went down 5% in 13 hours. Now yes, the more you use it/watch movies/play games, the faster it will drain. But if you have it sleeping, call, sleeping, take some text, sleeping, browse the internet, and so on then you should get about a full day if not more. The people who complain the battery is horrible are the people who play video games 24/7, stream movies 24/7, with 3g data turned on , with screen full brightness, etc. Those are the people who use this solely as a video game device or tv and complain that the phone battery is junk. Yea, because it's a PHONE battery...not a 24 hour video game and watch movies battery.p.s. if you are one of those heavy game/movie/not caring about screen brightness settings person..then guess what. Buy the extended battery!! which does help out GREAT!If there is anything you need to know about this phone just comment and I will reply. I researched this phone for 2 months because I usually thoroughly look into an item I want. I want to make sure I know all the bells and whistles and exactly what i'm getting. It was hard with this product since there aren't that many reviews or talks about it so I was trying to figure out everything I could. I would ask questions and no one would reply/not know the answer which made it harder to go with my instinct and by this phone. Well now that I have the phone and everything tested and confirmed, I will let you know anything you need to. Don't hesitate to ask.I have the pebble blue version.Yes, this phone is unlocked.Yes, it supports a micro SD card (up to 32 gb). So those who see that it only offers 8gb/16gb internal, then just get a micro sd card and you're all set! :)Yes, it DOES support HPSDA/3G (you will see on your internet network status a small 3G symbol if your area is covered or an H symbol, which stands for HSDPA, which is even faster than 3G).No, it does NOT take a micro sim card. SO many sites and descriptions say it takes a micro sim card and it does not. It takes a normal size sim card.YES this phone will work in any country, it's unlocked.In the box: s3 mini, a 1500 mAh battery, wall charger, usb charger, and samsung earphones.Phone Size: The phone is 4.79 inches tall, 2.48 inches width, 0.39 inches thin, weighs 3.92 oz, and has a 4 inch screen....Just to give you a comparison: the iPhone 4s is 4.5 inches tall, 2.31 inches width, 0.37 inches thin, weighs 4.8 oz, and has a 3.5 inch screen. So holding the s3 mini is like holding the iphone 4s except a little taller and wider and a hair thicker, AND lighter. Plus a 4 inch screen.Screen: The screen is a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen measuring 480 x 800 pixels. Therefore the screen is not HD, but nonetheless, the screen looks amazing (233ppi pixel density). It is also a multi-touch screen equipped with Gorilla Glass.Camera: 5 megapixel back camera takes pictures up to 2592x1944 pixels. It has autofocus, burst shot, panorama (which is awesome), and LED flash, plus more. The front camera is VGA and takes decent photos. Which is all you need to get 3G for both companies. The 850 for AT&T doesn't matter, and the 1700/2100 for T-Mobile doesn't matter (make sure you are in a reframed area). Hope this cleared things up :)And I should note one more thing. Yes this international phone does work and support HSDPA/3G networks. You can also get 2g/edge if you dont live in a 3g/HSDPA covered area...but who would want that if you can get high speed downlink packet access. I love it! (english/spanish review)

Hi guys,I must admit that I when I purchased this mobile, I was a little afraid. I had read lots of reviews and watched some videos on YouTube before the purchase. Anyway, I was worried mainly because of the screen resolution (480 x 800, that means no HD), the battery life and the size of the screen.I can tell you, this mobile is just awesome! It comes with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean installed, which is so beautiful and fluid. The screen is great, battery life is very good and the size of the screen is, in my opinion, perfect. I've never considered the "regular" Samsung Galaxy S3 because it is way to big for me. I wanted something quite small (although the screen is bigger than an iPod touch 4th gen), responsible, attractive and efective. This mobile is excellent for me! :-).The mobile accept 3G, it has smart stay, and all those "high-tech" features like his bigger brother the S3.I will reply any question you might have about this device and update this review next saturday.SPANISH:Hola! This exact power adapter came standard with what Amazon calls now the 'Kindle Keyboard' models (Kindle 3) but NOT with the Kindle Touch and the least expensive model ($69 no touch) now known as plain 'Kindle'. It should NOT be used with any of the Kindle Fire models. It can be used just about anywhere in the world (100-240V) for as long as you have the proper plug adapter.To charge a Kindle you will need a generic USB Type A/Micro B cable and one is supplied with every Kindle purchased and you can do it in several different ways:- Off a laptop or PC through one of their 'powered' USB ports (you will need a laptop or a PC)- With this adapter which comes with all Kindle 3s or can be purchased separately (you will need the Amazon-supplied or any generic USB cable)- With a third-party, branded or generic USB charger (search Amazon for either 'kindle charger' or 'usb charger')This specific charger works for all 3d and 4th generation Kindles and is also great for charging lots of other gadgets that get charged through an USB port. I'm using it to charge my Blackberry Torch, a couple of other phones and the kids charge their MP3 players. And the reverse is also true: most other USB chargers will work with your Kindle. This is just a regular usb charger, one of these even came with a 5 dollar lamp I purchased, and they can't throw it in with a 79 dollar kindle? You can buy one anywhere on the net or in some stores starting at 99 cents or less. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS, it is an easy way to trick kindle owners out of an extra 9 to 14 dollars. It is Outrageous to prey on people's ignorance like this, especially with such a popular product. I can see my older relatives getting tricked into buying this.Edit: It is Currently 20 dollars! Now it is 20 times more expensive than a reasonably priced adapter.

You can pick them up on the net or at radio shack for as cheap as 99 cents.Any of those on this page will work it just doesn't say Kindle. Great Home Theater Receiver!

My 6 year old Onkyo TX-SR502 was an entry level AV Receiver and it was time to upgrade. It didn't have HDMI connectivity and didn't have an onscreen display. It also did not have an auto speaker setup and I wasn't quite able to configure them myself to produce great sound. We also noticed lip sync problems when watching DVDs on our PS3. So after much research, I decided that my second receiver would be the Denon AVR-2112CI.First, I'll address the issues listed above. I now have my DirecTV and PS3 wired to the receiver via HDMI and my Wii connected using component cables. From there, we have one HDMI cable running from the receiver to the TV. Using this connection scheme, we seemed to eliminate the lip sync issue when watching DVDs and were also able to eliminate any delay when playing video game systems between the controls and the actual on screen action. The onscreen display is great for a few reasons. It was nice to have something to look at while setting up the receiver, but it is also nice to see the volume level on screen when adjusting the volume. Our coffee table blocks the line of sight to the receiver and we would have to get up and look at the old receiver to see the volume level. Lastly, the included Audyessy MultEQ XT setup configured the speakers so that they sound great. The real test was my wife who said that the sound is much better now with the new receiver.On top of these benefits, this receiver has some other great features. When hooking up to the internet through your home network, the receiver can stream audio from numerous different internet services. I primarily use Pandora, but Rhapsody and Napster are a few other services available. You can also access your computer music files through DLNA technology. Now if you have Apple portable audio devices with wifi (think iPhone, iPod touch, iPad), then you can listen to music off of these devices wirelessly through the Apple AirPlay feature. I found this feature to be flaky (time to connect and music stuttering), but when it works, it is a nice feature to be able to listen to your iPod library with device still in hand. You can even listen to Pandora this way as well, so it is up to you which method you prefer. AirPlay also works with iTunes on your Mac or PC. Just select the little icon in the bottom corner of iTunes and select "Denon AVR-2112CI." As I mentioned, the AirPlay feature can be a little flaky, but this may be due to a poor connection between my D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Gigabit Wireless Router and my D-Link DAP-1522 Xtreme 4-Port GigaBit Selectable Dual Band Draft 802.11n N Duo Wireless Bridge/Access Point.Lastly, this receiver features Audio Return Channel and HDMI Standby Passthrough. If you're television also has this feature, then one of the things you can do is run the video and audio signal through the receiver to the television while the receiver is in standby mode. This was important to my wife since she likes to watch TV shows using the television speakers. However since the new receiver produces a much better sound, she's often watching her shows using the surround sound, something she never did with our Onkyo.My first receiver was a great entry level receiver for a new college grad living on his own for the first time. But this Denon is a great upgrade and is great for watching movies, playing games, and listening to music.Update 17 Jan 2012: I moved my wireless router to the first floor (where Denon is located) and now the airplay feature works better. I still notice some stuttering to the music, but it is no where near as flaky as when my router was on the second story. Since I am still using a wireless bridge to connect the receiver to the router, the best option would probably have a direct connection (ethernet cable) to the receiver for a seamless airplay music experience. On another note, has anyone else had issues where the GUI for the net/usb function doesn't always appear on your television screen? This happens to me quite often and Denon customer service isn't too sure about what to do.Update 24 Oct 2012: So I have been getting frustrated with the video not showing up at all when I try to use Airplay, which happens the majority of the time (audio still works, music plays through the speakers, but the receiver is also supposed to show ablum information on the TV screen) This is also an issue when I use the Net/USB function to listen to Pandora. So I contacted Denon's customer support and they suggested I reset the receiver by pressing a few buttons on receiver itself. After running through the setup wizard, I now noticed that the problem is even worse. A new issue that arose deals with standby passthrough. I have it permanently set to work with the HDMI 2 output, rather than the most recent output used. I do this because my wife likes to watch TV using the TV's speakers. Well now if we watch a blu-ray, which is connected to HMDI 1, then switch the receiver off and go to watch TV, which uses HDMI 2, the video and audio signal are not passed through. The only remedy as of right now is to switch the HDMI output to HDMI 1 before placing the receiver in standby, which suggests that the receiver still thinks the settings say "last output used." I know this is not the case as I have verified twice that I indeed set the standby passthrough to always work with the HDMI 2 output. I am getting really frustrated with this receiver.Update 12 Dec 2012: I now have an iPhone 5, which works on the 5 Ghz Wi-Fi band; previous iPhones only worked on the 2.4 Ghz band. When listening to Airplay through the Denon with my iPhone 5, I get no drop out whatsoever. My wife's iPhone 4S (2.4 Ghz) on the other hand gets frequent drop outs. Basically having a better wireless network improves the Airplay functionality, indicating that any drop out problems were not the fault of the Denon receiver.

I've had my AVR-2112CI for about 2 weeks. I bought it for two reasons. I have an odd sized room with hardwood floors and odd speaker placement (4 ceiling speakers are centered on 4 vaulted parts of the ceiling with the center over a fireplace in a corner). I needed the Audyssey MultEQ XT to get the sound right. Secondly, I wanted the use of Airplay for our two iphones and our ipad 2.The MultiEQ XT is great! I have nothing but praise for the difference it has made over my old Onkyo receiver. The sound is very full and I have had several people comment on the sound difference.Airplay started off with problems. I tried hooking it up with two different repeaters with no success (sound was continually breaking up). I then tried using Trendnet 200 mbps powerline. I had the same problem with the music cutting out and for some reason my internet was getting cut out every day. Finally, I hired some professionals to fix my old cat5e cable that needed to be repaired. I hooked it up directly to a gigabit Netgear N600 router and things have improved significantly. I have 10 meg internet at my house, so my speed is pretty good via gigabit cat5e. My iphone 3gs still breaks up when using Airplay. There may be a compatibility issue with the 3gs. It does have the most recent firmware update, but still has issues. However, my ipad 2 and iphone 4 work great. You can put the receiver in network standby and use the Airplay icons (in Pandora, Slacker, Rhapsody, Youtube and Ipod) to turn the system on automatically and start playing music via Airplay. You can also control the volume with your iphone/ipad when using Airplay. The quality of sound from Airplay is great!Sometimes, the Airplay icon will not appear. If it doesn't, I've found turning off the phone/ipad and turning it back on will often fix this issue.I can't say much more about the receiver, because I really haven't had the time to test all of the other options. Mostly, I got it for the two reasons above. I will be replacing my iphone 3gs in a couple of weeks with the iphone 4, so I expect the Airplay issues will disappear for me.Overall, I am pretty happy with system. Airplay is a little finicky, but my guess is future firmware updates on the apple devices will remedy this.UPDATE: 7-24-11. I finally got my iphone 4 and Airplay is still cutting out intermittently. Mostly it works, but it is not uncommon for it to cut out for anywhere between 5-15 seconds in the middle of a song. My wife has an iphone 4 that cuts out less for some reason. My wifi signal strength is full when this happens at times. I'm not sure what this issue is. I'm hoping a firmware update on the phone side or on the Denon side will eventually fix this.UPDATE: 9-6-11. I finally figured this out after reading lots of posts of forums. There seems to be an issue with a couple of the settings on the iphone interfering with Airplay. Go to your iphone settings and turn off bluetooth. Then go and turn off "Ask to Join Networks" in the wifi options. This fixed my problem and now Airplay works great! I hope this helps some others that are having this problem with Airplay on this Denon or any other Airplay device. The problem was with my iphone, not the receiver. The reason why my wife's phone had not been cutting out was because these options were off on her phone.UPDATE: 5-6-12. I just wanted to let everyone know that I have not had to "turn off bluetooth" and turn off "ask to join networks" on our Apple devices for a long time. I'm thinking that Apple has addressed these issues in firmware updates. Airplay works flawlessly now without making these adjustments on our iphone 4, iphone 4s and our Ipad 2.

Amazing Sound!

I can not sing the praises of this receiver high enough. I spent an awful lot of time researching what Airplay capable receiver to buy and settled on two, this and the Pioneer 1121K. I had originally considered getting the Denon 1912 but Batpig's thread on avsforum.com convinced me to upgrade to the 2112 for the better calibration system. Having a hell of a time trying to decide between this and the Pioneer, I ordered both and decided to try them in my home hooked up to a set of fantastic Energy Take Classic speakers. The result: the Denon blew the Pioneer away. Now maybe Pioneer's MCACC calibration system just can't compare to Denon's incredible Audessy MQ and perhaps with some tweaking it would have approached the Denon in sound quality but I figured if Pioneer couldn't get that right, what else didn't they get right. Whereas the Denon is crystal clear with every note distinct and crisp, the Pioneer had a muddled, muted sound to it. Both I and my spouse could not believe the difference. I honestly don't think I would have kept the speakers had I gotten the Pioneer first, blaming the speakers rather than the receiver for the mediocre sound.When I Airplay through this receiver, it's like I have never heard this music before. It sounds so good and immediate! Far better than when I Airplay the same music through my Apple TV. I can only assume that Airplaying directly through the receiver takes full advantage of its amplifying and sound processing powers. The fact that I can also Airplay my music to Zone 2 which runs my outdoor speakers is a very nice plus given the great sound.I've had no network issues whatsoever with this unit unlike others but I do have the receiver hooked up to an Apple Airport Express that is in turn wirelessly communicating with an Apple Extreme Base Station so that may be the reason it works so well for me. I thought setup was far easier than with the Pioneer which I found unnecessarily complicated and convoluted. The onscreen volume indicator is also a nice touch missing from the Pioneer.No, it doesn't have as many inputs as the Pioneer but since everything I own has an HDMI output this wasn't an issue for me. If there is a weak point about buying this Denon it's with the ridiculous decision to put the owner's manual on a CD rather than provide you with a paper copy. Not only is this highly impractical unless you have a computer or laptop in the same room as the receiver, navigation through the manual, even after copying it to your hard drive, is slow. Out of utter frustration I decided to print out the 100 plus pages to have at the ready. I would have gladly paid a little extra not to have to do this.

Top of the class among all (budget-priced) micro-SDHC cards I have tested

[Note on Feb 4, 2013]Amazon combined the Sandisk Ultra 32GB and 64GB cards on the same product page. Please beware that your intended appliance must be compatible with 'SDXC' in order to used the 64GB version. My original review below refers to the 32GB 'SDHC' version.==========I have tested dozens of SDHC and micro-SDHC cards. One disturbing trend I noticed is that: the speed class rating for micro-SDHC is typically inflated. For example, a 'class-10' rating means the card must deliver a sequential write speed of at least 10MB/s. But somehow, a class-10 microSDHC cards is always slower than a class-10 SDHC card from the same manufacturer. Case in point: the PNY 32 GB microSDHC Card (P-SDU32G10-EFS2) claims to be 'class-10', yet it can only write at 8.6MB/s maximum, while the full-size PNY P-SDHC16G10 achieved 13.4MB/s according to CrystalDiskMark v3.01.This SanDisk Ultra 32 GB microSDHC Class 10 card (SDSDQUA-032G-U46A), however, proves to be the exception. It achieved a sequential write speed of over 10MB/s according to two different benchmark programs (11.8MB/s in "CrystalDiskMark", 10.6MB/s in "H2testw v1.4"). This is faster than all my other microSDHC cards, including two 'class-10' cards from PNY and Polaroid.A closer look at the file transfer speed using "Flash Memory Toolkit" revealed another nice surprise: For writing small files, this Sandisk Ultra microSDHC card performed just as well as its full-size counterpart, the SanDisk Ultra SDHC (SDSDU-032G-AFFP). In contrast, all my other class-10 microSDHC cards perform poorly while writing smaller files. See the benchmark results I uploaded to 'Customer Images' for details.When you use a memory card in a digital camera to record HD video, it needs to store a huge video file each session. That means its sequential write speed is most critical. When used in a tablet or a smart phone, however, the card's random write speed for small files is more important. That's why in such applications, the Sandisk microSDHC will perform faster than the PNY and Polaroid cards, even though they are also rated as 'class-10'.[Bottom Line]As of this writing, the Sandisk Ultra microSDHC card ia actually priced lower than other class-10 cards from PNY and Polaroid. This makes the Sandisk the best value - especially if you need honest class-10 performance across all platforms.[Side Notes]- Do not confuse this Sandisk Ultra card with SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC (SDSDQY-032G-U46A). The latter is rated for class-6 only.- The size of this '32GB' card is 29.7GB according to my computer. This is actually normal because computer people count one Gig as "2 to the power 30", which is 7.3% larger than one billion. So 29.7GB translates to 31.9 billion bytes, which is '32GB' according to marketing people.

Works great with my Galaxy S3. Didn't need to format the card or anything. Just popped the card in and everything worked great out of the box. Transfer speeds are excellent with this card. I would recommend this card to everyone.

Great card once it is formatted correctly

Initially when I inserted the card into the Samsung Galaxy S3 it recognized it but it wasn't able to format it correctly. After doing some research I found a free program EaseUS Partition Master [...] that will format the card into FAT 32 since Windows no longer allows you to do it by default. After formatting it into fat 32 the phone recognized the card and it works great now. I hope this helps anyone else that might run into this problem.
