A real upgrade from RF link 5811

We have a 19" lcd in our kitchen. There is no convenient way to "hard wire" it into our uverse setup. We have been using the rf link #5811 to send a standard signal to the tv.We noticed this device a while back and have been waiting for some reviews to help us make our decision. We never found those reviews, but decided to take a chance on it.We have connected the unit's transmitter to a uverse box on another floor. The transmitter and receiver are separated by around 20'.The system sends a 720p signal to that lcd. Both video and audio are very good. The rf repeater works. We have a 5.8g telephone throughout the house and there is NO interference.The only downside that we have experienced is that a couple of times each week, the receiver loses the transmitter's signal. To correct this, you have to turn the receiver off, then back on. It takes maybe 20 seconds for the connection to reestablish itself.

Works as advertised - solved my problem

I used this to link a 46" LCD High definition TV in the basement to a Comcast cable box on the first floor. We were not allowed to make holes or to have exposed cable, so I tried this. Since the cable box and TV are on different floors, I laid the antennas horizontally. The only issue I had is that the cable box and TV are both "smart" so they change display size and resolution depending on what's incoming. Occasionally the TV says something like "Timing not supported" and the cable box resets to 480 lines. Then I have to manually tell the cable box to send 1080 and restart the transmitter-receiver pair. I haven't figured out why this happens yet, but it's only a minor annoyance.

Better than expected

We had a very old audio only receiver and were looking to replace it (almost 10 year old technics). We picked up the Yamaha RX-V367, even though there were no reviews, since the receiver was just released, and it was in our price range (200 to 300). So far we are happy with the new receiver; it is connected to the satellite box, xbox, and blu ray.Speaker set up: Set of Polk Rti8 (left right and center), and klipsch Klipsch Synergy Series SS.5 rear surround (left and right). The sound coming from the speakers was MUCH better than from our ancient receiver.Not a fan of the Sound Field Programs, seems too much like a gimmick, and only adds an echo depending on what setting (one setting might effect the vocals more, or another setting might effect the music), but I imagine some people would enjoy that. Has many audio processing options, works great with Netflix streaming, set it to 5ch stereo and it will work great; can clearly listen to what's playing (netflix only streams in 2ch stereo). Mainly use the "Straight" audio processing setting (for xbox and blu ray), I assume the receiver doesn't add any extra "audio goo", and plays direct from the source.Good video quality, no noticeable video deterioration. Yamaha says it's compatible with HDMI 1.4 and will support 3D (with a firmware upgrade). Not that interested in 3d TVs anyways.Clear and easy to use menu system (compared to my old technics receiver), competent directions, fairly user friendly.Has 4 HDMI inputs which was much better than many of the competitors in the same price range. We didn't test the FM/AM tuner, and only connected HDMI and RCA from computer. We were also swayed by the extra bluetooth adapter so we can listen to music (and hopefully stream Hulu audio) wirelessly from the computer (and get rid of the airport express). Will update review after getting bluetooth.

Terrific value for the money

I rarely do reviews - but here I must make an exception. I highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a quality receiver to complement a Blu-ray player. I had an older Denon receiver which delivered great sound, but when the Blu-ray movies started arriving from Netflix, I found most of them required a DTS decoder which was absent in the Denon. After considerable research, I stumbled onto the new line of Yamaha receivers. I was a bit dubious, having always previously owned Denon and Sony, but the specs looked good, and the price was unbelievable, so I took the plunge.After a month or so of use, I have no regrets. The sound quality I am getting from my 5.1 Polks far exceeds the prior system. Sounds are richer, brighter, and the surround has more separation and clarity. For a 100 W per channel system, the power consumption appears amazingly low - the top of the receiver just gets barely warm, not hot. The speaker setup works well, and the movie and music presets, as well as the enhanced 5 ch stereo are outstanding, really enhancing the audio of the corresponding input. The display is large enough to see from the viewing chair, is clean and simple, and keeps the viewer appropriately informed.I applaud Yamaha for producing such a high quality product at a value price-point.

just received it yesterday(sat)...has all the great yamaha ease of use...functionalty...intuitive...don't really need to look at the manual....just hooked it up to a samsung 32inch 1080(120hz)/w/ optical cable...sounds great...going to buy a Panasonic DMP-BD85K WiFi Enabled Blu-Ray Disc Player so i will let you know if it true hdmi(both audio & video) not like the yamaha 365(eeeks...what were they thinking?)...waiting for some Polk Audio Monitor 70 3-Way Floorstanding Speakers (Single, Cherry)....will i need a subwoofer? please comment...will update...if this receiver has the features(and they work)....it will be an awesome value...thank you amazon...you delivered in 2 days!!!Hooked up the polk speakers and ended up buying the Samsung 6500 BluRay/Wifi dvd player...the HDMI connections on the receiver carries both the video & audio signals...love the fact that it has 2 audio optical connections...so pleased with this receiver!!!! would totally recommend for a sound system!!! What a great value especially if you don't want to spend big bucks but want a quality sound system!!

worked great for me

I'm no audiophile but this is an excellent reciever for the price. It comes with a microphone that you place in the "sweet spot" of your room and the system will send audio signals to it and auto calibrate the system. I am also happy to report the iPod function worked excellent with my iPhone and 5g iPod. Highly recomend!!

Great material for the price; no HDMI sound acceptance.

I really love this receiver; my father originally had a Pioneer from the 1970s he bought for 400 dollars. It had the turntable, receiver, speakers and tape deck. Its still preforming great. This convinced me to buy a Pioneer. Another reason, they are one of the only manufactures that are out there who actually outputs 120 watts per channel. When powering a Bose Acoustimas system the speakers can take 150 watts per channel. This receiver also has my favorite feature; an iPod input via USB in the front which allows you to pretty much control your iPod entirely with the remote which will display on your TV as well as the small pannel on the receiver. The only way to get true 5.1 channel audio out of this baby though is Optical Audio; which it has two inputs. One for my TV and one for PS3; I honestly think thats all I really need too. Great purchase! Only wish it had HDMI audio pass through as well as the video it has. Fantastic beginners audio receiver. Make sure your speakers are at least 120 watts per channel though; its one powerful receiver. PS If you want the audio pass through you'll have to go the 918 not the 518 or 818, I would have but I dont want to pay over 250 dollars for my first receiver.

Complicated

This is a good receiver, particularly considering the price. But I still haven't figured out to use it, beyond the basics. I find that adjusting the sound, either at the panel or with the remote, is unusually complicated and not at all intuitive. Keep the users manual handy.

No competition at this price - very good value

Not quite a 5-star item, and I can't vote 4-1/2, so I rate this a "4". Pro amps of this type cost well over $500, but at Amazon's price of a c-note this amp is a good performer. Runs circles around the noisy, junky Radio Shack and Terk models. Do yourself a favor, spend a few bucks more and get vastly better performance. Caveat: some buyers assume this amp converts S-Video to composite, and vice-versa. No way. If you have no S-Video components, you need a composite input source. You can use S-Video and composite at the same time with no problems, but there's no signal conversion. I'm feeding both inputs and getting much improved pic and audio over other units I used. Another warning: these amps don't 'clean' a poor input signal. Garbage at input = garbage at output (at least it doesn't make a bad signal worse!). Avoid cheap cables, avoid Monster and Radio Shack, get good connects from Belden, AR, or any other, and this unit will be a good performer at this price. It's one of many good values made by CE Labs (I tried their digital cable RF amps, they were good values as well). To get better than this, be prepared to shell out the kind of big bucks spent on electronics store displays.

CE Labs: No need to look any further

I have tried in many examples, to see a difference between the signal from this device and from the video being connected directly into the recording device, and I can see no "appreciable" difference. I've tried "blind" test DVD's to see if I can see a difference, and I just can't. If you need to feed multiple recording or input devices, this is the device. You can't beat the price. This device along with other CE Labs devices are used in countless showrooms (Costco, department stores, etc.) to distribute video to the many TV's on sale. Blown away by the great picture on that TV on the sales floor? It is most likely distributed by a CE Labs product. That's how good it is. This device certainly meets the standards of the home consumer user. Get it while you can.

just the thing I needed

If you need to split an A/V signal and or S video this is exactly what is needed. I have a digital cable box that would not allow analog signals to pass through the coax signal; so I needed a way to use the RCA cable option to more than one input. I heard the Y cables would degrade the signal when splitting. So I went ahead and bought this and Im glad I did because it works right out of the box I had some RCA cables laying around and now I can record my digital cable or analog if I want to, all the while I can watch the other signal. Sadly there is only input in this box but you might need to split an Svideo connection this has that option available although I havent needed it. I dont believe this would convert to Svideo from RCA. It works I cant find a major complaint I just needed to free a outlet for the big ac adapter that was the only inconvenience and it lacks a way to split HDMI but that wasnt promised overall Im still very happy with this purchase. As always Amazon was early when sending this purchase I got it a week after order just a day or so before christmas eve at free shipping. Package in original new condition. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Good Transmitter

This product does exactly as it says. I only have to send the A/V signal from my living room to my bedroom (about 50ft) so I can't talk of great range or anything of that sort. I just know it works great for what I need.

I simply hooked them up experimented with the best channel and voila they work as described including the remote control. I only wish the receivers could be ordered separately because now I have a couple of extra transmitters.

Worked great, for a week

So this was actually for a friend, I bought it b/c I have a Prime account. Anyhow so as I said, this thing worked great while it lasted, which was about one week. The setup was straightforward (I know because I helped my friend set it up) and he said the signal was good. It didn't last though. After a week or so, it just stopped working. Reached out to the company but they wanted us to ship back the old one at our expense when it was their product that was defective.
